Indiana Rep. Bob Morris: Girl Scouts promote abortion, homosexuality

Indiana Rep. Bob Morris is standing by his allegations that the Girl Scouts is a radical organization that promotes abortions and homosexuality.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/ind-lawmaker-says-girl-scouts-promote-abortion-homosexuality-...

The article goes on to say...
"Morris' comments about the Girl Scouts came in a letter he sent to House Republicans on Saturday that said he had conducted some research on the Internet and discovered that the scouts are a "tactical arm" of Planned Parenthood."

Um... has anyone bothered to inform this guy that you can find  ... ahem..."proof" of almost anything on the internet?

Personally, I think this whole thing was prompted by a recent Girl Scout troop's acceptance of a transgender child . God forbid our children should learn tolerance and acceptance of other individuals. Sheesh!

Thoughts?

I will agree that someone needs to inform Rep. Morris that you can find "proof" of almost anything on the internet. That being said I have very fond memories of my scouting days. My opinion about girl scouting comes from many years experience in the organization. I was a scout, paid employee, then volunteer for scouting for many years and it wasn't so much as an organization that promoted homosexuality or inappropriate behavior but it was more that those of us who engaged in certain things found a place to belong. Many of my friends were lesbians but we didn't care. We knew they were "different' and they knew they were "different". I have no real numbers but from personal experience, I know that a very large number of my acquaintances were victims of sexual abuse and incest. We hiked, biked, camped, cooked, baked, sewed, volunteered, learned to plan, learned to accept, learned to tolerate, learned how to get away, learned how to get involved and many other things together.

LOL There must be an alternative universe out there that every once in awhile loses one of it's population.

I personally will no longer support the GS. I am sorry they cave in to pressure. They are allowed to make their own rules. Just like the Boy Scouts started as a Christian organization, they should not be forced to change just because someone does not want it to be for Christians only. They can join another organization instead of changing a long-standing existing one. If someone does not like them, they do not have to join. If Rep. Morris wants to feel that way, he is entitled as well. However, if he is going to use his political standing to promote his feelings or call it part of his political leanings, he really ought to know the real truth and do more research. A little knowledge can be dangerous; he is responsible to know better but as constituents, we all should do our own research before we vote next time. He will learn then.
