This is unreal, I just heard the news. How awful for her family, but probably not that unexpected.   Her voice was such a gift, it's sad to have watched her spiral out of control, hopefully somebody will learn a lesson from this.   Do you think this could have been avoided?

UPDATE: CNN reports that Ray J, who was once involved in a relationship with Whitney Houston, found her dead body in a room at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, has died. She was 48.

Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unclear.

At her peak in the 1980s and '90s, Houston the golden girl of the music industry and one of the world's best-selling artists.

I am STUNNED.  No details/cause of death reported yet.  This is sad . . .what a talent.  Condolences to her daughter and family/friends.  R.I.P. Whitney. 

I found myself looking up "Run to You" on youtube - from "The Bodyguard" and I listened to it several times.  One of my favorites.

This is just so sad. I always hoped she'd fully recover from years of abusing herself. Her voice is so huge and clear, and she makes it look so easy. I'm interested to see what actually caused her death.
