A friend was talking to me last night.  She was asking me if I remember a time her mother said she was possessed.  That her mother called in the priest to do a exorcism on her.  No.  I remember your mother saying some uncle came from Texas for a visit.   He brought Satan in the house. Friend said No it was not the uncle.  He was just an alcoholic.  She went on to say at age 13 her mother said she was possessed.  A priest came to the house.  Started speaking in Latin.  She says.  What are you saying.  I don't understand you.  Priest supposedly turned to the mother.  This child is not possessed.  She is just probably hyperactive. Mind you the mother is very old school Catholic. Believes in only the Latin traditions.  Now goes to a schismatic Catholic church that basically practices pre vatican ways and only has Latin masses. I told my friend the whole possessed and exorcism thing creeps me out.  I said I'd like to read up on this a bit for a better understanding.  When she talked of possessed.  All I could think of is the movie.  The Exorcist.  Which that movie is not allowed in my house for any reason.  That movie gave me wicked nightmares. Which is why the Crucifix hangs over our bed.  Satanic things is not something we talk about in our house. 
I don't know much about that.

I still consider myself new to the Catholic faith, even though I joined in 2001. I don't know very much about possession and exorcisms besides what they show in the movies. As a matter of fact, I'd never even seen The Exorcist until last month. A friend wanted to watch it, but she didn't want to watch it alone. I didn't think it was that freaky, maybe because special effects have come a long way since then. It did make me wonder what the real story is, though.

I don't want to dabble in Satanic things.  Don't want to bring up any evil in our house.  When this friend brought it up. She claimed a priest tried to exorcise her.  Because her mother thought she was possessed.  Not even sure I know how one knows if Satan has invaded their life or house.  I denounce Satan and all the evils of Satan.  When someone tells you they were thought to be possessed. It had me wondering about the churches stance on that.

Have you seen "The Rite"? It's a Anthony Hopkins movie from two or so years ago and it's based on a true story. That stuff creeps me out!
