Catholics are cheaters?

I was listening to the radio yesterday morning, and they were talking about a study in the UK that claims Catholics cheat on their spouses more than any other religious group.  I only caught the end of what they were talking about, so I had to look up the study.  I think this is it:  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2064787/Catholics-likely-commit-adultery-Church-England-fa...

This article claims that Catholics are the "most adulterous group in Britain," and that "the number of Catholics actively looking for affairs was almost twice that of other religions."

The study is based off of data collected from an extra-marital dating site.  I have to wonder if those people who checked the "Catholic" box are practicing Catholics or if they grew up in the church and fell away.

Are you surprised by this data?  Do you think it's at all reliable?

I was cheated on really bad...we were engaged and a month before the wedding I found out he was having sex with escorts from craigslist and escort services and using my money i'd give him towards bills to pay for it.I won't get into the details,I'll just say it could have been an episode of jerry springer or Dr Phil.Anyways, he was catholic...mind you my bf now was raised catholic although he is not religious what so ever and doesn't even really have faith. There seems to be alot wrong with the catholic religion! My mother always told me the catholic children are the ones that get into trouble. She seemed to be right from what I've seen, heard and experienced.

Perhaps the Daily Mail has ties to C of E? ;-) But seriously, I think it's funny how the mention in a passing that Jews and Methodists are the most loyal but put Catholics and the C of E head to head.

I think people can find trends where they look for them. I know lots of sad stories about (mostly former) Catholics but I've also met some great Catholic families - former Catholics, too.

I'm sorry to hear what you went through, Pink!

I'm kind of confused by that article anyway because it said this:

Research showed 21.5% of the 600,000 members on an extra-marital dating site were Catholic - a high figure since they make up only 10% of the UK population.

And then this:

"Church of England followers are less common – although 40% of English citizens list themselves as CofE, Anglicans only made up 33% of members surveyed by extra-marital dating site IllicitEncounters.com"

33% is higher than 21.5%, so doesn't that mean CofE members are more likely to cheat?

I don't know. This data seems weak, and I'm kind of surprised it has gotten so much attention.
