Early Morning Mass Goof

I really don't ever go to the early morning mass on Sundays, but this past Sunday I was scheduled to work a table right after the mass, so I went.  There were a few things working against me that morning.  #1, DH and I went to a movie on Saturday and we didn't get home until pretty late...and I stayed up reading.  #2, I sat in an area of the church where I never sit.  It was pretty much foreign territory.  #3, I hadn't properly caffeinated myself yet.  So, when it was time for communion I somehow wound up in the wrong line (the wine line, when I should have been in the wafer line THEN the wine line).  I wouldn't even say I was in the wrong line, instead I pretty much made my own line.  It was one of those moments when I realized what i was doing just as it was too late to change course.  Ugh...

Hehe. They line up differently here (in double rows) and out of habit I walked right up to the priest like we normally would - so I ended up cutting in line then stepping back. It's the first time I saw a priest try not to laugh during mass I think. Lol.

I'll never forget the deacon who wasn't used to early mass, though. He fell asleep... while seated at the altar. When he didn't budge (head cocked back, mouth open, snoring), he had to be nudged awake for his role in preparing communion. Boy was he surprised where he woke up!
