School Uniform Rant

I was folding laundry last night when I noticed that yet another pair of Ian's Lands' End uniform pants had a hole in the knee.  These pants cost $30 per pair, and it's the 4th pair of pants that have worn out in the knee after just a couple months of wear.  The knee is supposed to be reinforced, too.  This particular pair he received at Christmastime.  I hate that the school only allows us to purchase from the Lands' End catalog.  They used to allow French Toast pieces, which were way more durable (and cost 50% less).  I'm just so tired of dropping that kind of money on pants that don't last.  :smileysad:

How would they know where you bought the pants from. As long as they are the proper color and style..  I'd be having words with the school on that one.  French Toast brand I know about.  There used to be a store by us that sold that  brand uniform shirts and pants to all to many of the local private religious and Catholic schools.  And at a decent affordable price.  Kids can be so hard on their clothes.  Even with the good quality brands.

Is the school getting a kick back from Lands End or something?

I'm not sure why they stopped allowing French Toast, but Lands' End participates in a fundraising program (Scrip), so parents can buy gift cards for Lands' End (to use at LE, Sears, or Kmart) and 16% of the face value of the gift card goes back to the school.  Although, I'm pretty sure when French Toast was allowed, it could be purchased from Kmart or Sears.  I don't think that's the case now that Lands' End is under their umbrella.  I don't see FT anywhere now except on the FT site or at Meijer stores during back to school shopping season.
