While Mary Frances is away, her sister, Harriette, thebuglady2, will be stopping in. As some of you know Mary Frances is a nurse, who is diabetic, married to a diabetic and who stays on top of what is going on with diabetes and it's treatment. Her sister, is also a nurse, and a diabetic.

Nothing we say is to replace your dr or their treatment. We are here to help, with basic suggestions, general information and our own experience in this journey as well as support through ups and downs. It really is easier to deal with when you have someone to share, helpful hints, recipes, frustrations, joys, and successes.

Pull up a chair and post away!!! :smileywink:

Pulls up a chair...I will niss her but I so appreciate everyone in this site..I have net at home now its VERY slow the slowest dial up I ever had ..maybe its the phone line...Anyhow as for me I am very down....I went on 5 units on lantus 3 months ago and have been on oral meds almost ..gulp 30 years....type 2 ..anyhow my A1C came in from Monday and its lower but the docs office called to tell me up the lantus...thing is I have been in the hospital due to LOWS ...I do not doubt the tests its just I am not catching the up's and am just feeling like there is no hope for me :*( I have had a good long 30 years on oral meds and up until 6 months ago was at 7 or less most of the time then 8.8 thus the lantus...now its 8.2. Granted I stopped exercising and have been eating more due to the lows but I just feel :*( I see my doc in 2 weeks I told the nurse to tell her I have an appt and need her help on how to space all the meds and that I am eating more and NOT exercising due to the mega lows a few times...I rattle on but this stinks :*( and will pass I know but ugh

Don't feel ba,d I was on 60 units of Lantus, now on 66 units of ther other kinds, can't remember the name. Lavetimir or something. I'm also on 1,000 mg of metformin twice a day. And I take meal time insulin. My last A1C was 10. Don't know if it makes you feel better! I understand being down about your sugar though. I try and try, take all my meds, test etc. And then when my sugar is higher than I expected, it's very depressing.

Notsochipper.  Can understand your being frustrated.  You might want to see if there is any type of diabetes group locally.  Seem to recall visits to the diabetes educator would not be covered by your insurance.  Am wondering if the insurance plan has anyone to deal specifically with diabetics. Maybe if they do you could get some help there.   This should at least be a nurse.  Other possibility is if you get hospitalized for lows, see if a visit in the hospital from diabetic  educator would be covered as part of your stay.

Would also call the doctors office  and ask to talk to either doctor or NURSE.  Then ask they what you are supposed to do when you have lows which will likely be more frequent if you up the insulin.

There is hope, but I know it is hard to see it some times.   Will tell you this, in really rotten times, I gave up on taking things one day at a time.  Those times I wasdoing good to take it an hour or even 5 minutes at a time.

Be sure in treating lows that you do what MaryFrances recommends. If you just take simple carbs to get your number up fast it may raise fast but then can nosedive.  That is why you need to do it the way she recommends.

We are here for you. If  you want to come on and rant about how you are treated fine.  If you want to get info from us we will do what we can.

I hear you on your internet problems. Not sure if part of the problem is just the connection or if your computer is part of it.  You might try downloading a cleaner program.  Cnet has a link to ccleaner.  One problem though is i just pulled up the link and its 3.42 MB so you might have problems downloading it.  if you can it is free.  other thing would be to be sure and clean out your cache and your temporary internet pages.  in one way that might make it  slower because sometimes what you are looking at is old internet pages, but  just cleaning the cache should help.   I am not a techie person, but have learned some bits and pieces. I also had a dialup for a very long time and even drove norton security techs bonkers when i had problems trying to download an update. they gave up and sent me a CD of the program after my link even crashed the techies link to me.

ON  exercising if nothing else try to get one of the walking programs if nothing else. Leslie sansone has a bunch of them, you can find even less than $10. you might also find them at a library. try using one and if you cant handle the one mile tape(15 minutes or so) just start out trying to do part of it.  I can promise that once you do get back into exercising it will lift your mood a lot.  If you read some of the posts MaryFrances did on how to eat before you exercise it might have you feel more in control.

Thanks AuntDoxzz I see my doc on the 28th....I much appreciate all you said and wow you know a lot and lots of puter stuff. I am on dial up and its a cheap local service add to that a not so good phone connection and that is why I am slow but its frustrating ...and I may not renew in 2 months...then I have a wifi thing but it will not get a signal here its out of the service area I got it before we lost our house

I know I really know on exercise I have been an avid exerciser <is that a word lol> for many years even till I was put on lantus a couple months ago....I have been a diabetic 30 years so I do know a lot more than I post but really and I DO mean really my insurace will in no way under any circumstance pay for a diabetic educator ..I have checked and check and its a no go..I really don't even know what she would say anyhow I know how to treat a low and all the issue for me is I am not able to be ME anymore I cannot exercise ....I can walk but I mean pilates and yoga and kickboxing all the things I did just 3 months ago....its all so hard to explain but I am not able to do and enjoy my life since the insulin I have to mega watch all  the time for lows and am scared to move or eat or not eat or eat this or that..I was not like this the last 30 years ..I kind of want off the insulin I would rather not eat and be able to enjoy things..(I miss exercise) ..again I cannnot cover it well as I type slow but I am so fed up and down just down. We do have a lot of stress and I know that doesnt help we lost our home have no jobs and my husband has a hernia and now a growth and so much I WANNA scream :-*( and cry and kick things...I  have done this for many years on diet and pills and exercise and this new med just makes it hard...Add to all this I think I have a lung infection and know that kicks bs up and all but I feel yucky ....Thank for letting me vent......youre awesome
