Planned Parenthood said it also saw a spike in people making appointments for breast examinations Wednesday. "The silver lining is that more people than ever are aware that Planned Parenthood provides breast exams, and we're seeing more people calling us today to make an appointment."

I'm getting tired of the "kill a baby" hyper-emotionalism. Planned Parenthood helps women implement their decisions about if and when they wish to reproduce. Abortions are legal, much as some dislike the notion. Planned Parenthood would be remiss if they didn't include the option.

Call it what you wish. Abortion is killing a baby, more than just emotion. It is funny that people can get very upset about SGK not funding PP but if you get emotional about killing a baby, it is 'hyper-emotionalism.' If that is hyper-emotionalism, then I am hyper-hyper-hyper emotional about it. You can be tired of it if you choose but it will not change the fact that while the legality of abortion may never change, people will continue to feel it is wrong and be emotional about it.

Great news...bottom line is both entities exist to serve people with health needs, be it preventative medicine or otherwise. I dislike seeing an organisation fall, but there are opportunities in adversity, not in the exploitive sense but in the accomplish a positive mission sense. This would seem to be the first hint of such a positive.

Yes, people will be passionate on both sides. There are women who would never abort but who nonetheless support the right of other women to make their own choice, and I suspect a sizeable number feel this way.

Support the things that reduce unwanted pregnancy - universal health care, widely available and cheap contraception, and comprehensive sex ed for our children, and we can make abortion far less an issue than it is now.
