Do you know how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)? Do you payday loans know how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)? Have you ever performed abdominal thrusts (i.e., the Heimlich maneuver) on a choking victim?
Just curious.
Every year I have to renew my CPR certification, and I completed another AHA class yesterday.

(No real victims yet - thank goodness!)

Great question and definitely something people should learn. I have to be, as part of my personal training/group fitness certifications and this year did a first aid class which was helpful, though a little scary. I'm NOT ready to deal w/ an amputation injury!  I did AHA, too.

I will have to recertify for First Aid in October this year. Luckily I have never had to use eithe CPR or the Heimlich - after taking the training I always feel a little panicked in case I ever have to use my training!

I used to be certified a few years ago but I have since let it lapse.

I probably could have used it last year when my MIL stopped breathing and passed out.  Fortunately I had called the paramedics when she was having problems breathing and before she passed out but before I hung up the dispatcher told me to call back if anything changed.   When she did pass out I called 911 back, by that time the fire department and paramedics were on scene and the dispatcher told me if they hadn't arrived when they did he would have had to walk me through CPR.  The thought of giving her CPR never even dawned on me!   I honestly don't think that even if I had my certification up to date that I would have thought to do it.

My MIL is just fine now.
