No response on one side...why?

Hi, it's been a long time since I've been on these boards. I have a nearly 9 month old baby who was an IVF baby. Our first cycle didn't work aside from one getting frozen embryo. My daughter was the result of my second cycle. As I am 37 years old my doctor didn't think it wise that we wait to try again- so I'm back.

I'm currently in the stim phase on Gonal F, Lupron and Low dose HCG in a down reg cycle. I have a question that I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on. According to my ultrasound my left ovary is responding while my right is not. Does anyone know what this might mean? In my last 2 cycles this was not an issue. Did something change with my body after giving birth, does this just happen as one ages? I'm less than happy about having less potential eggs to work with and hoping that my left side can produce some winners. Any advice, answers, suggestions would be useful. Thank you.

It's almost impossible to say I think.  A cycle buddy of mine (in Sept 09) had one ovary that didn't respond at all but that was her MO.  It doesn't sound like it is yours.  Maybe ol' righty will perk up here soon...I hope so!  KUP.

In a non-medicated cycle, you typically only have one side that develops a follicle. And it does happen that sometimes even on a medicated cycle, that one side will respond stronger, even much more strongly than the other side. From what I understand, it's just something that happens sometimes. I don't think I would take it as an indicator of something wrong.
