"The Business of Being Born"

Hi Ladies,

I used to be a regular poster about a million years ago on the unassisted birth board (which I think they archived/eliminated) after watching the Rikki Lake documentary when it came out. I just heard a sequel has been released, "More Business of Being Born," which I am super excited about.

I am also SO STOKED because I just got to attend my first birth on Thursday. The baby was unfortunately breach and the hospital Mom was delivering at doesn't do breach deliveries ( I know, huh?) so baby arrived by c-section, which I'm sure was the best way for mom and the family anyway. Anyway, I got to photograph it, and in celebration of the whole thing (I have been invited to three other births, including twins, and missed them ALL) I decided to do a give away for a copy of the DVD "Business of Being Born" and for Peggy Vincent's book, "Baby Catcher."

Now, I'm sure people who are already on board with the whole thing probably own it, but maybe you know someone who would be interested. It's just pretty much ALL of my readers are young brides so no one is entering, and I'm afraid I'm going to have no one to give this thing away to and I'm going to feel like a big dork in a week when only two people entered. I don't want to spam the boards over here, so I'm just going to post here, but if anybody is interested, feel free to drop in an entry, (which you do by just leaving a nice comment for the new parents!) and feel free to share the word with anyone you think might be interested. I'm afraid this was a really bad idea because I have the wrong demographic of readers but I was just SO EXCITED and I love this book and movie so much I wanted to share it, but I'm afraid I'm going to look like a ding dong. That's stupid though, eh?

lol Anyway, link if you care: http://eheizerphotography.blogspot.com/2012/02/baby-rays-birth-film-c-section-video.html

ETA: I'm sorry, I totally missed that there was a sub-board for Home Births. I don't want to repost (and spam) so I'll just leave it here, but, just wanted to say "whups." I think I"ve been gone too long! :/

Welcome back!  And I think it would be a very good idea for a new bride to be informed about "The Business of Being Born" movies and the book, because it's far better to know what you are in for BEFORE you begin trying to conceive.  The more you have the courage of your convictions, the harder it is for people to say you HAVE to do it this way.  It's too bad the hospital doesn't do breech deliveries.  One of the women in my Birthing From Within was a 40 year old stage actress who did not want any scars.  Her and her husband were able to have a midwife/OB assisted vaginal breech birth.  That's something for women to think about, how to turn a breech baby, finding a hospital that knows how to allow a woman the choice of a vaginal breech birth and what to do if they have a cesearean delivery.
