Woa-did you see it? Did your kids? British singer M.I.A.,during Sunday night's performance of Madonna's new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin.'" flipped the bird in front of 110 million viewers on NBC and appeared to sing, "I don't give a ------" though it was hard to hear exactly what she said.

What were your thoughts when you saw it? (What did you think about the rest of the show?)

I didn't see the flip off but overall, I was soooooo disappointed with Madonna's show!  It was boring and, although she looks good, her singing wasn't great (half the time she was lip-syncing) and her dancing was even worse.  I think she started with Vogue?  That is so 1990, *yawn* lol.

If she was smart, she would have brought Justin Timberlake on instead of MIA. THAT would have been a much better show.  :smileywink:

I saw that!  What she said rhymes with "fit." I was pretty surprised because Madonna had said at one point that there wouldn't be any controversy with the performance.  I wonder if she said anything to MIA about it afterwards.  I definitely did notice the flipping of the bird and the profanity.  They blurred it out and bleeped it in the follow-up newscast, and they didn't say anything at all about it!  The story led with "Madonna's Superbowl Controversy!!"  And the big "controversy" (after they played the video with the blurred finger and the bleeped word) was that her critics were divided down age lines, with older fans saying how great it was while the younger crowd yawned.

I really liked the performance.  DH loved the screens she used on the ground and that she shared the stage with several other artists.  I thought she looked great, but I also think she's a bit too old to pull off the whole cheerleader bit, so I didn't really love that part.

I didn't see it --- I try to avoid all "Extravaganza" halftime shows, be they in bowl games or championship games --- they always seem to be in such bad taste all around (who designs those things anyway?) and I miss the good old days with marching bands doing formations, etc....

And being such an old fogey, I never heard of M.I.A.

I didn't notice it, but I was folding laundry at the same time.

I was also disappointed with Vogue as the opening song. It's a good song, but it just seemed so....old, I guess. I was glad to see LMFAO pop up and I'm pretty sure Madonna said "I'm sixty and I know it." instead of "sexy."

I keep hearing that Madonna was injured - hamstring or something - which is why she wasn't totally "on" with her dance moves. All I know is that she looks better than me and I'm half her age!
