Now, I'm not for burning ANY flag-- but I agree that Whitney Houston's death is NOT something that deserves a half mast.   She was a great singer....ummmm, 15 years ago and then spiraled out of control with drugs and alcohol.  She didn't cure cancer, she didn't do anything humanitarian (that I am aware of )... she just had amazing voice-- which I loved.   There are other ways to honor her-- but flags at half mast... nope.

That was absolutely ridiculous to lower the flags for her. I don't blame him for doing that.

I agree. You shouldn't burn a flag....BUT Whitney mania was waaaay too much. As far as I am concerned, she put herself in a downward spiral and the last 15 or so years of her life were embarassing and not worthy of recognition. I think it sends the wrong message to kids today. Remember the people who are good role models and who made a difference. Otherwise we are basically saying that you can do one memorable thing and the rest of your life can be wasted and you are a great person. It's the whole person and how they live, not the achievement.
