I have not designed anything that is particularly original. I did make a reversible table runner but that was just with simple square in square and nine-patchs set on point. I do, however, change the patterns that I have used slightly to make it "mine." For instance, I have a lap robe that I am working on: black and white with multi-colored sashing. I made the sashing all in one part of the color wheel instead of all over it - blue, purple and teal (no orange, red or gold).

I did a tessalated Texas that used 4 colors but had one "Texas" in the middle that was completely different from all the others (blue bonnets vs red, blue, white and cream).

One of these days I will try my hand at designing but I need to finish about 30 UFOs first.
