Today is the first day of lent!

Are you doing anything special for lent this year?  Have you given anything up for lent?

What do you most like about Easter time?

Let´s post here during lent, about anything to do with Easter and the hope that that gives us in the midst of this TTC journey.

We don't do a lot for Lent (I was raised Baptist and we attend a Christian Reformed church,) but I do try to give things up for Lent.  This year I'm opting to take it easy on myself since life is going to be pretty nuts and I'm just giving up celebrity gossip...it's quite none of my business who is doing what and it would be better if I wasted less time reading about it.  (Though I am rather curious as to whether Jennifer Garner has a boy or a girl and what they name it...but that's mostly because her girls have pretty names.)

At Easter time?  I love the flowers.  It usually falls at that point in Michigan winter when we've been up to our eyeballs in snow for two months (not this year, as the snow hasn't lasted long) and all you want is to see something green.  And then you'll start to see little pots of crocuses and irises and so on cropping up in the stores and you know that God is once again spinning the world around and bringing rebirth and new growth here, even as the snow starts to fall somewhere else and He keeps moving the cycles along.

Re: Lent
I love remerbering the victory that Jesus won for us at Easter time. I love to think that when we take our hopes and desires and pain to the cross and give them to God, He can turn it all around and use it for good. I love to remember that death (whether that's real death or of dreams or of hope for each monthly cycle) is not the end. Our God is a God of life and in Him we have life. I love that! Yes, I love the image that you give Kristen of the flowers and of how God brings rebirth and growth. I love to remember that I´m growing through this infertility journey and that no matter what, in Jesus my identity is never infertile, because spiritually, I´m alive.

I've gotten off to a bad start with Lent! I haven't really thought about what to give up yet.

The best part about Easter is just all the preparation and ceremony. I like the flowers, the services, etc.

I actually don´t think I´ve ever given anything up for Lent! So I´m obviously doing really badly on that front. I do sometimes give things up, just never done it at this specific time.
