How to Jump to the Last Unread Message in a Thread

If you don't want to wade through all the unread messages in a thread, you can opt to jump to the last unread message. By turning on this option, you should be able to click on a discussion and be taken to your last unread message in the thread.

To enable this, go to Edit My Preferences , in the right-hand column:

Then click on the Linear  Layout link:

At the bottom of this page you can enable this feature.

Click Save Changes and you are done!

How do you use the spoiler tag?

First click on Start a Discussion or on Reply under a post

A message box will open up for you to write your message.

Highlight the part of your message you want to hide:

 Click the smilie with the hand covering it's eyes in the tool bar:

If you did it right, it will get a grey rectangle around it.

When you post, it will look like this:

I want to tell you a secret!

HINT: Click on the word Spoiler to see the secret message.

Click Post and you are done!

How to Update Your Avatar

To update your avatar - the icon or picture that is above your name in the left-hand column when you post

Visit your iVillage Member Profile and click on Account Settings to select a one of their designs or upload one of your own.

Then click on the Edit button

To use one of their Avatars, just click on one of their pictures under Select an Avatar.

If you don't see anything you like, click on More Avatars. There are 35 pictures to choose from

Or you can use a picture from your computer. I already have a picture up so I could click on Find Another Photo and change it.

Click on the Browse button and find the picture you want to use on your computer.

You can upload a JPEG, GIF, or PNG file. Images larger than 1 MB will be scaled down.

Adjust your picture to fit within the frame, using the button Rotate Left and Rotate Right to change it from horizontal to vertical view. When you are happy with your picture, click on Upload.

Click Finish - and you are done!

Or you can click View Your Profile to see how it looks.

Where do I add or change my signature?

On the right hand side of this page you should see a Quick Links section. The first link is to Edit Your Preferences - click on that.

That should bring you to your My Settings page. If you look down the page, you will find the box to add your signature information:

Add your signature i nthe box and click on Save Changes - and you are done!

How to View More Threads in a Folder

This is what you are seeing now, and some are wishing we could have the old view back.

This view only shows five threads per folder. We need something quicker, and showing more threads at once.

If you bookmarked the long view of each folder, it would be quicker to get around. Bookmark or Favourite the following pages in your browser, and then you can just go to your Bookmarks/Favourites and read the debate board from there:

Or you can just go to Options▼ at the bottom of this post and in the drop-down menu, click Bookmark and save this post!

This long view shows as many as you want - just set it up in Edit My Preferences  ⇨ Linear Layout ⇨ Topics per Page. While you are there, set your Posts per Topic as well.

I have my Topics per Page set to 50 and my Posts per Topic to 30. You can chose any number you want.

PLUS - the long view tells you how many replies, how many views, who posted last AND how many posts you haven't read yet. If you click on the number under the NEW column, it will take you right to the first new post.
