I don't know what to think about this....
Caity said to me, "Mom, do you remember when you told me to tell you if I ever like a boy?"
"ummm...yes."
*hesitation*
"i like a boy"
"oh yeah? Is he in a class with you?"
"no"
"then how do you know him?"
*long hesitation*
"it's S"
"S, s?" (confused...he's a boy she used to go to daycare with and couldn't stand)
"yes" (hiding under a blanket) "and he's my boyfriend"
"i thought you didn't like him..."
"well..."
"i saw you two were talking on fb. When did this all happen?"
"when I was at K's" (her cousin)
"huh..." (still a little confused)
"are you mad?"
"why would I be mad?"
"i don't know ..." (back under the blanket)
"what changed your mind about him?"
"he's just being nicer now. Do you think I could meet him at the mall?"
Pause
"his dad wants to talk to you"
Pause
"well, I'm not sure about the mall...I'll talk to his dad"
"okay. Are you sure you're not mad?"
"I'm sure"
"good"

First "boyfriend"...he doesn't go to her school though. All this pre-teen stuff is wild! lol

Looks like we'll be having "the talk" officially soon...lol. Wish me luck!

Oh my! Just when you think you are getting a handle on things along comes another surprise!
I just had a similar conversation with a friend on my April '98 babies board who's DD wanted to go to the movies - alone- with her new boyfriend - eek!!

It was a big "NO" to a solitary movie date, but the mall would be ok - I guess......
I think you handled that pretty well Sarah, at least you were able to formulate some sentences - I don't think I will be able to do that when my turn comes!!

At 11, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with her going to the mall without supervision...maybe in a couple years though.

Geo, I was really surprised but knew that if I reacted with anything besides a poker face it would be the end of getting told things...and I NEED to know when the first kiss happens (hopefully not soon!). lol
She has no idea how to get here to the board...and you can bet that I'm not going to tell her! She didn't even want me to tell Joe! So when he asked what "that was all about" I just said that she likes someone and left it at that...at this point, he doesn't need to know who or that she said he's her bf. lol
So double poker face!
I'm glad they aren't at the same school...and that I know the boy and his dad. Takes some worry out of me. But you better be sure I'm going to be on her facebook like a hawk! lol
